Che Cafe!

Volunteer at the Ché Café!

The Ché Café continues to exist because of the hard work, care, and love invested in it by all of it's volunteers over many, many years.

Anyone can volunteer at the Che - it doesn't matter how old you are, or if you're student at UCSD. Help is needed at virtually every event that goes on here. Working in our co-op/ workers' collective, and learning to cooperate with others in a non-hierarchal setting can be a very valuable experience. Benefits to volunteering at events are free admission and food (if food is being cooked).

It has been said that the Che can be an intimidating and even hostile environment for newcomers. Please, please - if you feel at all uncomfortable, speak with one of us about it! We really do care. If you'd like to volunteer, be assertive about it, and don't let any of us make you feel uncomfortable. Most of us are just too shy.

All that said, please do get involved in our community. Whether you occasionally volunteer at shows, or take responsibility for entire dinners, it really makes a difference.

Collective Meetings

If you're seriously interested in doing things here, have questions to ask, or a proposal to make, come join us in our weekly meetings. We hold them every Thursday at 8:30pm, in the Che space. Be forewarned, meetings can be long at times, and when you first start coming, you may not understand many of the issues that we are discussing. Don't feel bad about leaving early if you need to or just get bored, it's ok!
